Added in v3.27

P1 Sync for linking two P-1s

P1 Sync is a new feature for linking two P-1 units over MIDI. The LEADER sends song selection, setlist selection, play, pause, stop and scrub position to the FOLLOWER, which will mimic the leader's behaviour. The menu setting has 3 modes: OFF, LEADER, and FOLLOWER.

  • Set the sending P-1 to LEADER.
  • Set the receiving P-1 to FOLLOWER.
  • Connect MIDI Out from the LEADER unit to MIDI In on the FOLLOWER unit.

Both units should be on v3.27 firmware when using P1 Sync together. P1 Sync uses MIDI channel 16 internally, and a FOLLOWER receives sync traffic but does not transmit it.

Playback update

Songs with audio and MIDI can now scrub together

You can now scrub forwards and backwards in songs that contain both audio and MIDI.

  • Load a song that contains both audio and MIDI.
  • Start playback or pause on the song.
  • Hold FORWARD or BACK for 2 seconds to begin scrubbing.
  • Release to continue playback from the new position.

If P1 Sync is enabled, scrub movements are mirrored when one unit is set to LEADER and the other is set to FOLLOWER.

Remote control updates

New MIDI remote control options

This release expands the MIDI control options for the P-1.

The MIDI input channel is now configurable in Settings > MIDI Settings > MIDI In Channel. The default is channel 15.

Control What changed
Virtual PLAY footswitch CC 28: any nonzero value = press, 0 = release. D2 / Note 38: Note On = press, Note Off = release. Both follow the current CONTROL SYSTEM, just like the physical PLAY footswitch.
Bank Select CC0 / Bank Select can now arm a setlist for a following Program Change, CC 19, or CC 20.
Output level control CC 9 controls headphone level, and CC 85 to CC 90 control output levels 1 to 6. These changes are temporary and are not saved to the song or setlist.

P1 Sync traffic on MIDI channel 16 is separate from the user-selected MIDI input channel.

Settings updates

New and updated settings

The main Settings page now contains:

  • CONTROL SYSTEM
  • METRONOME FLASH
  • TIME COUNTER
  • MIDI SETTINGS
  • DISPLAY SETTINGS
  • AUX SETTINGS

TIME COUNTER chooses between ELAPSED and REMAINING.

At End now includes a new STOP option for end-of-song behaviour.

Send MIDI Clock can now clock external MIDI gear from the song BPM even on audio-only songs. Receive MIDI Clock allows the P-1 to respond to incoming Start, Continue, and Stop transport messages.

AUX INPUT can now be switched to UNBALANCED if you are feeding the AUX input from an unbalanced or stereo 3.5mm source. AUX GAIN can now be increased up to +18 dB using a digital gain for quieter AUX sources.

Other improvements

Faster adjustments, clearer browsing, and better feedback

  • Turning the right encoder on the player screen now adjusts headphone level while the P-1 is stopped, paused or playing. The level appears briefly as a small overlay in the top-right corner of the display.
  • The player screen now has VU level indicators for outputs and AUX signal, and an indicator for MIDI activity.
  • When the setlist browse screen spans more than one page, dots appear on the right-hand side to show the available setlists and the current selection.
  • When browsing songs, a small MIDI indicator appears on songs that contain MIDI.
  • Invalid WAV files now show - INVALID WAV FILE - on the player screen.
  • Invalid or missing session data now gives clearer warnings such as SESSION NOT VALID and SETLIST INVALID.
